One of my favorite nude nail polishes is Essie: Sand Tropez. Everyone should have this in their nail polish collection. It’s a great color for any season. I especially love it for special occasions where you don’t want a crazy nail color, or for the upcoming fall season. Wear it with a black turtleneck sweater and crisp jeans and some serious gold jewelry. It’s understated yet always in fashion. When in doubt…go nude.

Must Have: The Tangle Teaser

I have discovered a hair product that is a must have. It is called the Tangle Teaser, and it is a life saver.photo1-11

I have very tangly hair. When I get out of the shower, no matter how much conditioner or leave in conditioners/oils I put in my curly hair, it is so tangled. It takes me at least 10 minutes to brush through my hair. It’s obnoxious. I try to go slow so that I won’t pull all my hair out, but it is still a project. Enter….the Tangle Teaser. I had heard of this product, but like most things, if I have to buy it online, I usually don’t end up doing it. For some reason, I don’t enjoy online shopping that much. However, when I saw this product at Sephora, I knew I had to give it a try. It was FABULOUS!!! I used it in place of a brush once I got out of the shower. The Tangle Teaser made brushing through my tangles much easier. I think it took half the time to get through the tangles. I am obsessed! Anyone who has curly, tangled hair needs this in their life!!

To purchase, check out their website. Or find it at Sephora!

I love this product!!

Relationship Update

So ..are most boyfriends totally lame? Like obviously I love having a boyfriend; I love the constant companionship and love…but sometimes my boyfriend is just lame. He never gets excited about anything. I get that he is great and deals with my craziness, but still! And yes, I know I get excited about dumb things like a NEW EPISODE OF THE KARDASHIANS!!! But I think some things deserve excitement. So my poll question for this week is the following:

Is your boyfriend lame?

Leave me a comment and let me know!!

DIY: Glam Dresser!

Today’s post is a DIY post. I love doing these posts because I want to show you that it is SO possible to make things yourself! DIY crafts are an easy way to get the exact thing you want, while saving money!

For years, I have had a pair of nightstands that are mirrored. I have always pictured my bedroom as this glam space that would be all mirrored and perfect. But the reality of it was that I had a bed, and 2 mirrored nightstands. Not that much excitement. Now that I live with my boyfriend, I’ve been trying to make each room in the apartment a nice, decorated living space that we like to spend time in. I discovered this dresser while online shopping, and thought it would be perfect for our glam bedroom look, but knew that the price tag was a bit too hefty for our budget.

So I decided to do a DIY project! I knew I could make a dresser that would look similar, with almost no cost.

Things You Need: a dresser (preferably used), silver spray paint, crystal knobs

So first, you need a dresser. I actually found this dresser at my parent’s house. It was not being used, and my mom was happy to let me take it for my project (She’s trying to de-clutterize their life, now that all us kids have moved out!) . If you don’t have parents that want to give things away, check out your local thrift shops, or garage sales. The whole point of these projects is to be super cheap and save money. So don’t pay crazy amounts of money for a piece of furniture that you are going to re-paint.  I would say that a budget for a dresser is $20. Here is what the dresser looked like when I started: It was the boring wood color that I hate.

To get it ready for the spray paint, I sanded the top with a hand sander. If you have a hand sander, then go for it. Mostly it just needs sanding on the top. If you don’t have a hand sander, then just sand it with pieces of sandpaper and don’t worry too much. You could go with the vintage/retro look. The next step is to spray paint it whatever color you want. I picked silver. Then let it sit and dry. I spray painted this with silver for two coats. I let it dry between each coat, then sprayed it with a shiny top coat after both coats had dried. I didn’t feel like the top coat really did anything, so I would suggest not wasting money on that step unless you really feel like it will make a difference. Here is the finished product:

So what do you think?! Does it not look JUST like the glam dresser that I found online?!!? I took off the ugly wooden pulls that were originally on the dresser, and I installed the crystal pulls. I found these crystal pulls at Target, for a very good price. I paid $25 total for all spray paint/sand paper/crystal knobs, and the dresser online was originally priced at $562. That is a HUGE savings! I personally think DIY is the way to go. I know for someone who doesn’t do DIY, it’s hard to comprehend….but it really is a great thing. You CAN make things yourself! It’s not as hard as it seems. A lot of DIY projects are just a can of spray paint and some  love.

Let me know what you think!? Will you do this DIY project?!

Foodie Friday

Today’s Foodie Friday post is a delicious pasta dish that you could make this Labor Day weekend to impress your guests! It’s super easy.. I based this recipe off one of my favorite pasta dishes at the restaurant Brio. I invented this dish because unfortuneately the pasta pesto dish I loved so much at Brio was discontinued! How rude. But anyway, here is the recipe!

Ingredients Needed: Sun Dried Tomatoes – Pesto Sauce – Pine Nuts – Baby Spinach – Penne Pasta (or whatever is your favorite pasta!) – Parmesan Cheese/Feta Cheese (optional)

IMG_2246 IMG_2247 IMG_2248 IMG_2249

This is literally one of the easiest pasta dishes. First, cook your pasta (follow directions on the box). Once the pasta is cooked, drain it, and return it to your sauce pan. Turn the heat on low. Next, add in the pesto sauce, sun dried tomatoes and baby spinach. (I don’t give amounts because it really is up to you and what you like most). Why you need to turn the heat on low is to slowly wilt the spinach slightly. Add in the pine nuts, and feta cheese/parmesan cheese(if you want). Some people might toast the pine nuts, but that seems like a lot of unneeded effort. Normal pine nuts taste GREAT! So that’s all there is to this dish! I mean seriously, how easy is that?!  Another addition to this dish – you could add in cut up chicken tenderloins chunks to give it more of a hearty taste (obviously cook the chicken before you add it).

Doesn’t that look SO delish!? Let me know what you think!

Reality Roundup

Reality TV has really stepped up in the last few weeks. Between Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Below Deck, Real Housewives NJ AND OC, Top Chef Duels, Jersey Belle, Million Dollar Listing LA…. the list goes on and on! So here are my top picks of the week:

Quote of the Week (from Real Housewives of Orange County): “The last time I saw him, he said he beat you and called you a whore!”  –  Tamra #RealityGold

Don’t Be Tardy – I mean honestly, Kim camping………that’s really all that needs to be said.

Real Housewives of NJ – I normally love the New Jersey housewives… but this season, I’m not totally feeling it. I hate the new cast members – the twins voices are just flat out annoying, and Amber bugs me. Amber’s husband is THE WORST! But, I love Dina & Melissa, so I am hopeful that the rest of the season will get better. There’s not even anything to discuss, because so far all that has happened is dumb petty drama with the twins that I just really don’t care about.

Real Housewives of OC – I know it’s already reunion time, but really the summary of the season is the following: Shannon Beador is the BEST, and Tamra lies A LOT!

Top Chef Duels – I like the new vibe. I actually have 2 episodes on my Tivo right now…so I’m not totally caught up. But… survey says.. I approve!

Million Dollar Listing LA: I love all the Million Dollar Listing shows (except Miami…that was dumb). I can’t wait to see what happens with Josh Altman and his fiancé! And Josh Flagg always makes me laugh. The British twins seem pretty funny, so I think it’s going to be a GREAT season.

So what do you think? Do you agree with me?? What is your favorite show of the moment?!

Let me know!

Relationship Wednesday

I have decided to instigate “Relationship Wednesday”. This is where I will post about my relationship. Why? Because my boyfriend and I have a very odd, yet very normal (I think) relationship. And I feel like I most people would relate. Also, I just kind of need to vent sometimes! You guys will be my therapy. haha. So here goes….

Today, my boyfriend called me annoying. And yes, I get that I am annoying, but you aren’t supposed to tell me that! I was like –mouth dropped open– “RUDE!!!” And he’s like “Well, you are being annoying!” And I get all huffy and storm off to the upstairs. And then I think, hmm what should I do now? And then I watch Real Housewives of New Jersey, and forget anything ever happened. So should I take these things that he says to heart? Probs not… but no one ever wants to be called annoying! And lets be honest, usually the only reason I am being annoying is because I don’t feel like he is giving me enough attention. So it really is his fault. haha. And I have told him this…but he doesn’t seem to get it. I guess I will just continue to be annoying and see what happens. 🙂

What do you think?? Does this happen to you too?? Let me know !

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans (NYDJ) are unreal. I had heard of the brand for a while, but thought – as the name states – that they were more for moms. And then I was at Nordstrom Rack…and boom! There were a lot of the Not Your Daughter’s Jeans on the racks. I had just recently heard from my mom that my aunt raved about her NYDJ and said my mom HAD to try them. So I thought, why not. I’ll give them a try. I needed a new pair of jeans. I tried them on, and was so shocked. I have gained about 20 pounds in the last few months, and jeans/pants were just in general not looking good. But the NYDJ jeans looked great on me! Theyslimmed my stomach, and got rid of my love handles! They come up higher than normal jeans(around my belly button) but it’s perfect because then you don’t have the love handles popping out. They also have a hint of stretch, which makes them comfy and slightly more forgiving. I was shocked and very happy. It sounds corny, but my new NYDJ really helped my self confidence. I’ve slowly been working on loosing the weight I gained, but I am happy to know that I have a pair of jeans I feel comfortable wearing until that happens.

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans are sold at many major department stores. If they are too pricy for you, check out Nordstrom Rack. I got mine at a very good price!

So what do you think? Are you a fan of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans?! Let me know!

Mani Monday!

So obviously it is not Monday…but since I have been off for 2 months, I have so many exciting nail polish colors to show you! So today is an honorary “Mani Monday”. One of my fave finds from this summer was this gorgeous pink color by Essie. It is the perfect ‘ballet slippers’ kind of pink. I put it on, an immediately fell in love. The color is called “Muchi, Muchi”.

Let me know what you think! Isn’t this just the most perfect pink!?
